1. Tens of Thousands of Foreign Soldiers Deployed by Russia—Most Deceived into Enlisting
According to a report by The Economist, cited by Yonhap News on the 21st, it is estimated that several thousand to tens of thousands of foreign soldiers have been deployed for the Russian military. Many were deceived into enlisting, unaware they would be sent into combat. Their primary nationalities include Nepal, Slovakia, Brazil, India, Egypt, Cuba, Sri Lanka, and Serbia. Most foreign soldiers taken prisoner claim they were tricked into being sent to the front. Some arrived in Russia under the guise of studying or seeking employment, only to be forcibly enlisted. Although they were promised a monthly salary of around US$2,000, they have effectively been used as cannon fodder. Ukrainian intelligence authorities report high casualties among them, as they are sent in ahead of Russian forces to identify Ukrainian positions.
2. North Korea Sends Special Forces to Ukraine War
It has been confirmed that North Korea has dispatched troops to aid Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, a move expected to have significant repercussions not only on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia but on global security. Russia’s role as a spoiler in North Korean nuclear issues is likely to become more blatant, and ROK-Russia relations may suffer severe damage. Concerns are also rising over advanced military technology North Korea might receive in return. This is the first time North Korea has dispatched a large-scale ground force overseas. While North Korea has previously supplied Russia with artillery shells and short-range ballistic missiles, the deployment of a large elite force represents a new level of military cooperation. The 11th Corps, known as the “Storm Corps,” is a special operations unit with an estimated 40,000–80,000 troops, organized into 10 brigades including light infantry, air assault, and sniper brigades. According to government sources, North Korea is expected to send around 12,000 personnel from four brigades under the Storm Corps.
Jeremiah 29:11~14
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."
🙏Pray for
1. Almighty God, it has been three years since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war. Lies and deceit are rampant, and the nations involved seem to expand the conflict out of self-interest. Countless casualties have resulted, and many refugees—children and the vulnerable—are suffering in this devastated land. Some say the outcome depends on the U.S. presidential election, but You, our Creator, are the Sovereign One. We plead with You to swiftly stop this war. Break the pride and schemes of the powerful nations involved, destroy the plans of evil, and bring true peace. God of peace, future, and hope, please intervene personally to end this war.
2. Lord, meet and save all whose hearts have become poor and broken due to this war. May the churches in Ukraine and Russia hold fast to hope until the end and pray without ceasing. Under Your guidance, let them boldly testify to the Gospel. May the global Church continually cry out for an end to the war and for the salvation of soldiers deployed from many nations. Lord, hear our prayers and answer them, we ask in Jesus’ name.
