60 million children in Yemen are suffering from malnutrition.

Updated: Oct 15, 2024

Yemen - It is reported that the nutritional status of children in Yemen, where government forces and Houthi rebels have been in conflict for the past decade, is dire. According to a report released by the UN on August 18th, various factors such as the spread of diseases like cholera and measles, lack of nutritious food, lack of drinking water, and overall economic recession have significantly increased child malnutrition rates.

The report states that the child malnutrition rate in areas controlled by the Yemeni government has increased by 34% compared to last year, with at least 600,000 children in critical nutritional condition, among which 120,000 are suffering from acute malnutrition. Additionally, approximately 223,000 pregnant and lactating women are also feared to be malnourished. The areas with the highest levels of acute malnutrition are the southern regions of Hodeidah and the Al-Makha region of Taiz. It is feared that during the lean season until October, when agricultural activities are minimized, all 117 districts in government-controlled areas will fall into more severe malnutrition conditions.

Psalm 50:15 - And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.

Please pray

  1. May the global church lift its hands in prayer for Yemen. Let the long-standing war and poverty in this land cease, and may peace and stability come. Rebuke the rulers and authorities who hold power and work through this land, and let God reign. Break and destroy the power of the Houthi rebels who act with war and violence.

  2. Support for the survival and health of children and women is needed. Provide urgent aid and relief to restore the health of suffering children.

  3. Above all, open the doors for the gospel. Open the closed borders so that the global church bearing the gospel can enter and sow seeds of the gospel throughout this land, pouring out grace so that many souls may reach salvation.
